Well, to update everyone, I have been moved to a camp here at Lompoc. It is still prison, but it is better. The Veteran’s Administration still has not fixed my money so Linda receives help. It wears and tears on me because things are hard enough. Hopefully my congressional representative, Mike Thompson, will do something to help her.
I took a test several months ago because I had blood in my stool, which was a major concern as I am a ‘Nam Vet and was exposed to Agent Orange. I needed to have a colonoscopy (I have had several through the VA) which was not a big deal but the Federal Bureau of Prisons Healthcare system at best is very, very slow.
I was thrilled when, the day after the Superbowl I was called into health services and was told to drink a gallon of “let’s clean you out real good” liquid. I was no longer thrilled, but was glad to know I would get the test the next day. We will pass on what happened during the 5-7 hours I spent drinking the stuff and going to the bathroom.
The next morning a guard drove me to the local hospital, a brand new, very nice place. Three ladies looked out for me the five or so hours I was there. They insisted I get a meal before they would release me to the guard (something not usually done, according to the guard). I wish I knew their names (I don’t). But I will say thank you so much anyway.
I was thrilled again as we left, even if I was still a little numb and hazy from the procedure. They told me they had cut out two polyps and I was cancer free, although they are still doing a biopsy to be sure. I called my darling Linda and we have laughed and made happy on the phone.
The very next day I received the Governor’s response to my appeal. To me it looked weak. My attorney has five weeks to rebut it, then it goes to the appeals panel. We believe we have a good shot at winning.
We are praying each day for the best. With the financial problems the Federal Government has I hope they will begin to release non-violent offenders like me, it is costing billions to keep us in here serving Draconian lengths of time over marijuana. Child molesters get 3-5 years, child porn creators, bank robbers and murders get less time than drug cases (I am 2 years into a 10 year sentence).
It is sad because many (not all) of these men are good men with families. Instead of being home helping raise their kids, they are in here costing taxpayers (that would be YOU, yes YOU) billions of dollars and forcing their spouses to go on welfare or other government programs.
At some point this must stop.
Tobacco and booze cause 750,000 or more deaths a year. All illegal drug deaths amount to less than 20,000. Marijuana drug deaths still amount to zero.
I don’t understand why they have spent over a trillion dollars to try to stop 20,000 deaths a year, while allowing booze and tobacco to kill almost a million while allowing healthcare and “legal” drug companies to make more money than ever.
Please write, call, or email your senators and congress people and let them know they need to keep violent criminals behind bars so there are no more victims, but they should look at the drug issue as a health problem and quit ruining so many lives when it is not necessary to do so.

You can put money on Eddy’s “books” in prison through Western Union. The Bureau of Prisons does not supply prisoners with sundries such as toothbrushes and soaps, and often doesn’t cover all meals. Eddy needs money in his account to purchase these goods.

Eddy Lepp is a Vietnam War Veteran and medical marijuana activist who grew medicine for patients in Northern California. He gave it away free to those who needed it most. In 2008 he was sentenced by Federal Judge Marilyn Patel to ten years in federal prison. Although he has been moved to other California prisons, he is currently in Lompoc Federal prison camp. He is expected to be released in 2018.
Ed was and remains denied from visiting Eddy due to his felony conviction in 2003. Angela (Ed’s assistant) visited Eddy in October but since he has moved to the camp, she has been barred from visitation and the prison has “no record of her visit”. Eddy is in the appeals process with the Bureau of Prisons to get her re-approved for visitation.

Dear Ed and Angela,
Sadly there are only so many things one can do here and after you’ve done them, then it’s just repeat repeat, repeat. Boredom is the great enemy of us all, it is a constant battle to stay busy, positive and alive– and I don’t just mean breathing. I mean truly alive, remembering those out there who need and care about you. Remembering there is a world and even if it doesn’t seem like it, you are and must be a part of it.
I wrote about sports, education and church in prison and after 2-3 pages I said its too bad that these ment didn’t put even 10% of the effort into school, God, or sports on the outside that they do in here, for if they would have lived even 10% they wouldn’t be here.
But we are here to be punished for deeds against society and mankind. I can’t help but believe if those who sent us here were made to spent 60-90 days here– not as punishment, but for knowledge– they would rethink and redo this whole mess we call the prison system.
There are for the most part, two types: those who are criminals who rape, murder and rob, they create victims, and by being here only learn ways to improve. They do to us as a whole for we all pay the price for their crimes.
The other type is those who shouldn’t be here. The ones that should have been dealt with in some manner other than prison. Non-violent drug offenders– most for possession –who cannot help but be affected by where they are, and can not help but hate a system that is so broken and out of control.
It is also easy to see how they come to hate those responsible for letting it remain when it destroys so many lives for no reason. I fear that attacks against elected officials, judges, etc are just beginning.
Those who not only feel but know they have no voice at all. They will continue to act out if our government officials do not fix this leaking ship. If they could even put aside their greed and their quest for power and just once think about you and I -us- (the true Government of America) they could and would change it.
But as long as big business controls them we are doomed, and I fear it is just a matter of time before som disillusioned soul acts out and the death toll will just keep rising. I pray this wont happen but I know it will if those we have elected to serve and protect us continue to screw and prosecute us instead.
We must, without violence, make them see that the right thing to do is to honor the OATHS OF OFFICE and put the people first in front of their greed and prayer.
Anyway, just thought you would like to read about how I fight boredom. Trying not to let mine be another wasted life like so many before me.

It is time to step up and help Eddy. He needs money on his books and he needs to have letter and phone calls written and made on his behalf demanding his release. His best friend Jack Herer is now deceased and gone. Who will carry on his dream and his work better than his best friend Eddy Lepp? Nobody I can think of. Please help me help him and help our future.
